From 2000 to 2003 Tamara was an art teacher in Pentonville Prison. She was awarded Arts Council funding in 2001 to draw with prisoners who were in the Healthcare Centre of the prison. Many had just self-harmed or attempted suicide, while others struggled with psychosis or addictions. She set up weekly art (not art therapy) classes in the Healthcare Centre which were very popular and founded on providing the highest quality art materials and teaching drawing as a basic skill.

No drawings of individual prisoners are shown for reasons of confidentiality, but drawings of prison staff are included.
